How is it that so many people seem unethical and perpetrate trauma on others? Is it because we live in a world that is essentially traumatic? It seems that people who are heavily traumatized may lose their ability to empathize and hence, experience separation from others, and become capable of hurting others without remorse. . Just as most of us will kill an insect if it enters our house without much remorse, there are people who will kill others (soldiers at war as one example) or exploit, rape, hurt, or even torture others with little or no remorse. The pedophiles, the fathers that abuse their daughters sexually, one can't help but wonder how anyone could be so cruel to their own children. Often it is said that child abusers were abused as children and it is their trauma which they carry that makes them act in this inhumane way.
One might imagine that the way our societies are managed, with its propaganda, it's cruelty, its lies, its trickery, its dysfunctional families, its corruption, its scarcity and financial pressures, its colonialism, its injustices and atrocities, that we are all collectively traumatized and a vicious circle or spiral is created, and it perpetuates and increases. Then, how to break through this spiraling self-destructing tendency? It seems impossible, but we must find a way. Compassion is natural and is what I found through my own personal experience when I had 3 weeks of being "illuminated" when I was 27 and compassion poured out of me at full force without any effort or desire when I looked in anyone's eyes. And when we can understand as fully as possible what really happened to someone that has made them behave in an unethical manner, compassion and forgiveness will flow. This would be a step in the right direction and might provide a clearer understanding of how to cure trauma. It seems that if we wish to save ourselves from extinction and totalitarianism, we must find a way to end violence and become humane beings. Behaving badly towards others without remorse could be associated with our animal nature, the world of predator and prey and to be able to merit continuing as a species, it is up to us to finally become humane and set up ethical societies with economies that incentivize compassionate, loving behavior. Since, it seems that the majority of humans are lost at the moment, it is up to the 3 to 1 percent to save the day, to work towards the hundredth monkey phenomenon, to bring on the new paradigm which will be both ethical and humane. And there are big changemakers working on this as I speak. utopiacornucopia.org
