Here in Chambalabamba, we are people from around the world, families with children and people of all ages. We are a group of artisans, builders, gardeners, technicians, artists, clowns, carpenters, electricians, musicians and much more. We are united in our desire and dreams of creating a better world for ourselves, Mother Earth, and future generations. We are committed to living freely with respect and responsability for others and the environment.
This dream is to live the "new paradigm", to leave the "old
paradigm" behind, the judgements, gossip, the competition,
patriarchy, the ego, violence, selfishness and greed, insecurity,
anxiety, and fear, and replace it with relationships being the
bottom line, the foundation of the community. To live our lives
interdependently, where every action is coming from love. To honor
respect, consideration for others, humility, personal integrity,
authenticity, cooperation and collaboration, equality. To create
the best possible environment for children to grow and develop. To
nurture creativity and spontaneity.
However, for this to work it is extremely important that everyone understand that true freedom cannot exist without responsibility. And I mean responsibility in the fullest sense, for your personal life, for your family, for the community, the pueblo, and for the world. One can only do so much, but what is essential as far as the community is concerned, is that one is conscious of the needs of the community, because without being conscious, one cannot be responsible.
We all want the community to run smoothly, to have as much abundance as possible, to be clean and beautiful, to be as self sustainable and ecological as possible. Everyone needs to understand how important for everyone who lives here to assume this responsibility and to become conscious of the needs of the community as well as all the members, volunteers, workers, and visitors.
To open one's heart is to care, to care for everyone's feelings and well being, as well as the plants and structures. And we can always care more, more deeply, with more awareness and this is a process that the community can develop individually and together. For me, this is my spiritual path and I hope it so for everyone.
Given that human relationships are one of the major challenges of community life, we have agreed to keep always in mind three basic principles, which are: personal integrity, harmony and unity. Based on these three principles we seek to maintain a good relationship with our brothers and with mother nature. And looking through agreements maintain order and cleaning of all common areas, also taking healthy eating and conscious. We meet weekly to discuss, organize, and feel like we are making decisions by consensus.
With the purpose of integration into a conscious alternative life, since the beginning we have maintained openness and provided spaces for multiple transient workshops, addressing different areas and themes, as well as sharing art workshops (theater, dance , circus, painting, music, etc.), healthy eating, bioconstruction, meditation, tissue, circle of women, medicinal plants, cosmetics and natural medicines, health and self care, yoga, acroyoga, among others, which have been provided by community residents, special guests, visitors and volunteers, with an influx of people from different parts of the world.
We currently have a creative group made up of people living in town and residents of the communiy developing collaboratively to create another dance-theater production, following our first collaborative production "Harmonía", which was invited to perform in the first International Festival of Living Arts in Loja 2016. We open our doors to directors, companies and art collectives interested in having a space for creative residences and multidisciplinary artistic research laboratorie.
